Biography
PATRICIA (PATI) MAGUIRE
One of my first memories is watching the play of light and shadows on the wall by my bed. This fascination with light and color has lasted throughout my life.
I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and had my first art lessons there as a child. My formative years were spent in Venezuela and Brazil. I spent many happy hours touring the art galleries of Rio de Janeiro and sketching the tropical Carioca life.
I studied Fine Art at Skidmore College, in Saratoga Springs, New York. I continued my studies with Master courses at Syracuse University, and later obtained an M.B.A. from Florida Atlantic University.
My first solo exhibit was at the Contini Gallery, in Caracas, Venezuela in 1977 , and since then I have been showing my work in Rio de Janeiro, Caracas, The United States and Canada.
South Florida has been my home for the past 23 years. My work is currently exhibited at shows in the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the Coral Springs Museum of Art, The Cornell Museum of Art, and other art venues throughout South Florida, where I have received prizes. My paintings hang in private and corporate collections, and in galleries in Delray Beach, Fort Lauderdale and New Hampshire.
Presently I teach painting at the Cornell Museum of Art in Delray Beach and am a Signature Member of the Artists' Guild of the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the Delray Art League, and the Women In The Visual Arts, I am also one of the founding members of the Florida ‘Scape Artists.(www.floridascapeartists.com)
When not on location, I paint out of my studio in Delray Beach.
